Truck Cake

This truck cake was for a little boy turning 2.  It was based on the drawing his mom made for the invitations.  It was a nut free yellow cake with buttercream filling.  I made coordinating #2 cookies for the favors.  Happy Birthday Mark!

Wild Rumpus!

For my son Colin's 2nd birthday party we decided on a "Wild Rumpus" based on his favorite book Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.  The theme was born when my husband found all sorts of fun wild things' stuff in the dollar bin at Target back in April...so 6 months later here we are!  I made lots of signs, pom-poms and printed out lots of printables from the internet.  Then came the cake.  Usually, my husband doesn't have too many opinions on the kids' parties, and I think I sometimes drive him crazy with my obsessing and planning.  However, this time he had a clear vision of what he thought the cake should look like.  Luckily, I found an inspiration cake on one of my favorite cake blogs that made his vision a reality.  I was a little nervous about recreating this cake, but I knew it turned out well when Colin (my little Wild Thing) saw it and said, "Rrrrrrr, hold it, Max, rrrrrrrrr!"  He says, "hold it" anytime he likes what he sees!  The Wild Rumpus was a success, Colin had so much fun with all of his wild buddies.  I can't believe my baby is 2!  Happy Birthday Colin!

My 1st Wedding Cake!

This fall wedding cake was for my cousin Lindsey and her husband Brandon.  They wanted to incorporate the fall theme of their wedding into the cake, so we went with an ivory cake decorated with gumpaste leaves.  The top 2 tiers were yellow almond cake with buttercream filling and the bottom tier was chocolate with buttercream filling.  This cake had to travel over an hour to the reception site, which made me quite nervous but worked out fine!  Congrats Lindsey and Brandon, love you guys!
