Cake for 7

Each year we celebrate all of the January birthdays in our family with a big dinner.  So I had to think of a way to make a birthday cake for seven people.  I went with a patchwork quilt of sorts, with each person getting a patch with something they love or love to do.  Happy Birthday Mike, Stu, Amanda, Auntie Di, Margie, Nana and Kevin!

Amanda- the music lover

Mike- the Pats fan

Nana- the tea drinker (it has to be Salada tea)

Auntie Di- the hairdresser

Stu- the Celtics fan

Margie- the sewer

Camouflage Cake Take Two

I had a request to make the camouflage cake I made this past summer, so I did with a few small changes. This cake is yellow cake with buttercream and chocolate buttercream frosting.  Happy 8th Birthday Shane!

Giraffe Cake

This cake marks the end of a long cake making weekend.  Carly wanted a giraffe head cake, and it had to be a girl giraffe.  So here she is, pink bow and all.  She is half chocolate and half yellow with buttercream filling and icing, accompanied by little grass mini-cupcakes.  Happy 5th Birthday Carly, hope you love your Girly Giraffe Head Cake!

Puppy Cake

This puppy cake was for cousin Ally's 6th Birthday Puppy Party!  This little guy is half chocolate cake and half yellow cake, covered in buttercream fur with a little fondant bone by his side.  Happy Birthday Ally!

Baby Boy Baptism Cake

This cake is for little Landon Michael's Baptism.  His mom sent me a link from her Pinterest account with an inspiration cake.  The bottom tier is yellow cake with strawberries and buttercream filling and the top tier is chocolate cake with strawberries and buttercream filling.  Hope your day is very special Landon!

Lovely day for a GUINNESS...

When my husband requested a Boiled Dinner (corn beef, cabbage, etc.) for his birthday meal, I knew the perfect pint cake to compliment it.  This pint of Guinness is marble cake with half chocolate buttercream and half vanilla buttercream.  It's decorated with fondant and buttercream.  Happy Birthday to the best husband and father I know, we hope you liked your "beard" cake (as our 3.5 year old called it)!

Pretty in Pink Baby Shower

This pink and white cake was for a shower for the upcoming arrival of Baby Grace.  The bottom tier is yellow almond sour cream cake with buttercream filling and the top tier is chocolate sour cream cake with chocolate mocha buttercream filling.  The cakes are iced in buttercream with fondant decorations and little gumpaste baby shoes.  Can't wait to meet you Grace!

Wishing everyone all the best in 2012!  We started off the new year with something sweet, dark chocolate cake with peanut butter chocolate chip buttercream filling and mocha chocolate buttercream icing.  Here's to hoping 2012 is as sweet as this cake was!
